Wildlife Count by Debbie O'Rourke: Humber Bay Park East, Toronto

Friendly blackbird, Humber Bay Park May 2002: crayon drawing

Day 2 cont.... The ladybird is my first confirmed insect. The swallows, frantically winging over the stream and ponds, are accustomed to returning to a country where spring has awakened the mosquitoes and small flies. They must be starving! Red-wing blackbirds are also plentiful. One of them seemed to insist that he be included in this sculpture- or maybe he was asking for fat and protein supplementation to replace the insects. I only hope to have enough dry days to record a fraction of the wildlife I'm seeing.
