from the sketchbook...

So with a half-full sketchbook I went to meet my co-sponsors, the fabulous people at Caribbean Contemporary Arts. Be sure to visit their website- later! I explored Port of Spain and began working in the CCA7 studio with my photos and drawings. Meanwhile, Lesley-Ann Wells of CCA and Asa Wright Education Officer Marguerite Agard put their heads together to figure out a place where I could work on the project I had come to Trinidad to do: to observe wildlife in a local community and create a carving I would leave as a gift to that community. They decided to introduce me to a guide named Carl Fitz James. Carl lives only about an hour from the nature centre.
