Kelly, Kahlil and I watched Carl and Blondie roll the log down the slope. You can see the raw mountain earth scraped open by the landslide, which had brought down many fine trees. |

Only one day after I came to stay in the village, I was still feeling shy. But thanks to Carl and Blondie, I already had a beautiful piece of wood to carve. Wet, muddy and sore as I was, I was having the time of my life. |
Carl fetched Alan Williams, a local businessman, to haul the log in his truck. I became accustomed to such helpfulness while I was in Trinidad. I appreciated the way that people really went out of their way for me. |
