The caterpillar spins a rough pad of silk and suspends itself, head down. Before the dramatic but familiar transformation to a chrysalis, there is a period of painful suspension as the pupa form begins to replace the muscular body beneath the caterpillar's skin. Green glows though the creature's transparent skin. Its tentacles flap, empty of flesh. Finally, the caterpillar begins to pulse rhythmically. |
