When genesis gave the caterpillars the wisdom of instinct, it burdened humans with free will. So when change threatens to overtake us, we must voluntarily descend into the painful stasis necessary for growth and healing. Yet stillness is what we most fear, for we are a culture of constant motion. More than war, conflict, hunger, homelessness, we fear that silence in which we examine ourselves.
